Utah

We Made It!

Christian and I set out at 3:30 a.m. last Thursday for the very long drive to Utah. It was time to go see Papa and Nana! On paper this is a 622 mile, 10 hour drive but with a child it turned out to be about 11 or 12 hours. I had been wanting to take this journey since the beginning of the year and after much planning (and purchasing a DVD player for the car) we packed up and hit the road.

I need to take a minute here to brag about my little travelin' sidekick aka Christian "cutie-pie" Lee. This was, hands down, the easiest trip I have ever made with him. He did not fuss even once....no joke. We had recently turned his car seat so it was facing forward and put the DVD player in the Explorer. I think this played a HUGE part in his good behavior. He could make faces and blow raspberries in the mirror that I bought. He munched on popcorn puffs, peanut butter crunch, sandwiches, yogurt and bananas. I brought along the infamous firetruck toy and we stopped at several rest stops to stretch and run off some energy. After he ran around a bit he easily went back into his car seat and watched the next movie. He napped and ate and drank and laughed and danced and clapped and squealed. I am still in shock at how well he did and I am hoping that I am not jinxing our trip home by writing about it on my blog. I just had to say how wonderful he was!

When we arrived at Salt Lake we met Dad and Peggy at a school to watch Ty's football game. Christian was very excited to see his papa and explore the football grounds with him.

After the game we went to my new favorite Mexican restaurant called La Frontera where we ate smothered burritos and chips and salsa till our mouths caught fire. Christian especially enjoyed the refried beans! Papa filled him up with sugar and soda and lets just say that Christian's first night of sleep at Papa and Nana's was an eventful one!

The next morning we took Christian to his Nana's salon for his first offical salon style haircut. He set up in the big boy seat all by himself and watched in the mirror as his locks were swiftly cut away. He was a very good boy and so his Papa gave him more sugar!

Here are the "after" shots of his new hair cut with his Nana:

What a handsome boy!

My dad gave Christian this "wiggle car" and he was able to get around on it just fine. He pushes it with his feet and steers. He makes it go backwards and steers around in a circle. It was fun to watch him take off on it.

Christian had a lot of fun playing with Hadlee and Raylee!

We had a really good time visiting in Utah. Jason came up for a few days too. We cut our trip a little short and went home early. Christian was pretty tuckered out from all the fun and excitement and was having some pretty restless nights with his O2 sats running low. So that was my clue that it was time... we were there for 10 days and we will definitely be going back again!

Here are some pictures of Christian saying goodbye to his Chubby Papa:
