Lately......

1. We purchased a new (used) truck for Jason that he is absolutely in love with. I was bad and teased him all day that the truck had sold when I went to buy it. He was bummed all day, so much that I started to feel guilty. When he came home from work I could still tell he was sad. After he showered I had my brother pull into the driveway in Jason's new truck. It was the BEST surprise! He called me a jerk and then kissed me. :)

Here it is:

2. I set out some of my Fall decorations last week. I always do this while watching Practical Magic. Don't you love that movie? The soundtrack rocks too! The Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year! I splurged on a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks (no whipped cream). Yummmmm. I am working on decorating a pumpkin that I will post about later. I am pretty excited with how it is turning out. (Yes, Jason brings me pumpkins, not flowers, in the Fall) He knows my heart and how I love him!

3. Christian is growing so fast! He weighed in at 21 pounds last week and is 31 inches tall. Yesterday I tried him in the size 5 shoes that his Uncle Casey and Auntie Tita bought him back in March. They fit! They also bought him these adorable boots. Christian wants to wear them at all hours of the day. He even wore them while taking a nap! I am so happy these fit him and just in time for the Fall weather to arrive.

4. Jason and I ate at Bonefish Grill for Misty's birthday dinner on Saturday. We had never been there before. It was really nice and the food and service were A+. I ordered Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos and Jason ate Coconut Shrimp. We definitely will go back because we really liked the atmosphere and the service.

The coolest thing (that we actually missed out on) is they had cozy outdoor seating with a man sitting in the corner with his guitar and mic. singing "Jessie's Girl". How cool is that? We didn't know they had live music out there till we were already leaving. I would love to go back and listen to that guy sing. He was actually really good. He inspired Jason and I to crank up the radio and sing at the top of our lungs all the way home. Our best duet was Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer". Ummm...we don't get out much. :)

We also decided that we would buy guitars in the next year or so and learn how to play them. Maybe we will be naturals?

5. We are moving forward with learning sign language together as a family.

6. When my dad was here a few weeks ago he helped us reinforce our deck so that the railing was not leaning out. It is so sturdy now. We are working towards rebuilding our deck (a few boards at a time).

7. We are looking forward to Esmeralda taking our family photos at Columbia Crest winery in a couple weeks.

8. Jason and I got new cell phones yesterday and we played with them all afternoon. :)

9. I went to Tri-Cities with my Mom on Saturday to go to Bath and Body Works. We stocked up on hand soaps in all our favorite Fall scents. She bought me a body mist called Harvest Berry. I can not stop spraying it on myself. It smells amazing! Seriously, if you were to hug me right now you would be surrounded by the enticing smells of woodland berries, bergamot, white citrus, and jasmine. The smell makes me want to throw on a sweater and snuggle up to my handsome hubby by the fire.

10. Today I plan to start working on Christian's photo book of the past year as well as his annual birthday video. I can hardly believe our little pumpkin will be two in a month. I have already dug out my Halloween cookbooks and party ideas. I am so excited!

11. I will be painting my kitchen cabinets soon and will post all about them later. Also, we are researching colors for our bedroom but that may be a Spring project.

12. We cleaned out our garage (finally) and our downstairs room. I moved in my large tables for scrap booking and other craft projects. I am so excited to get started on some projects and know that I have room to work and won't have to put everything away (until I finish).

That is all I can think of right now but before I go I wanted to share this picture:

Can you say CUTE????

Slacker

I have not done a very good job this summer with keeping up with blogging. I have had plenty of things to blog about but never followed through with actually posting much. I wanted to post these random pictures of Christian taken this summer.

The above picture shows Christian sporting his summer "mullett."
Do I have something on my face?

Utah

We Made It!

Christian and I set out at 3:30 a.m. last Thursday for the very long drive to Utah. It was time to go see Papa and Nana! On paper this is a 622 mile, 10 hour drive but with a child it turned out to be about 11 or 12 hours. I had been wanting to take this journey since the beginning of the year and after much planning (and purchasing a DVD player for the car) we packed up and hit the road.

I need to take a minute here to brag about my little travelin' sidekick aka Christian "cutie-pie" Lee. This was, hands down, the easiest trip I have ever made with him. He did not fuss even once....no joke. We had recently turned his car seat so it was facing forward and put the DVD player in the Explorer. I think this played a HUGE part in his good behavior. He could make faces and blow raspberries in the mirror that I bought. He munched on popcorn puffs, peanut butter crunch, sandwiches, yogurt and bananas. I brought along the infamous firetruck toy and we stopped at several rest stops to stretch and run off some energy. After he ran around a bit he easily went back into his car seat and watched the next movie. He napped and ate and drank and laughed and danced and clapped and squealed. I am still in shock at how well he did and I am hoping that I am not jinxing our trip home by writing about it on my blog. I just had to say how wonderful he was!

When we arrived at Salt Lake we met Dad and Peggy at a school to watch Ty's football game. Christian was very excited to see his papa and explore the football grounds with him.

After the game we went to my new favorite Mexican restaurant called La Frontera where we ate smothered burritos and chips and salsa till our mouths caught fire. Christian especially enjoyed the refried beans! Papa filled him up with sugar and soda and lets just say that Christian's first night of sleep at Papa and Nana's was an eventful one!

The next morning we took Christian to his Nana's salon for his first offical salon style haircut. He set up in the big boy seat all by himself and watched in the mirror as his locks were swiftly cut away. He was a very good boy and so his Papa gave him more sugar!

Here are the "after" shots of his new hair cut with his Nana:

What a handsome boy!

My dad gave Christian this "wiggle car" and he was able to get around on it just fine. He pushes it with his feet and steers. He makes it go backwards and steers around in a circle. It was fun to watch him take off on it.

Christian had a lot of fun playing with Hadlee and Raylee!

We had a really good time visiting in Utah. Jason came up for a few days too. We cut our trip a little short and went home early. Christian was pretty tuckered out from all the fun and excitement and was having some pretty restless nights with his O2 sats running low. So that was my clue that it was time... we were there for 10 days and we will definitely be going back again!

Here are some pictures of Christian saying goodbye to his Chubby Papa:
